About ASHIN NAYAKA

General Secretary of Sasana Moli (East Coast, USA)

He received his Ph.D. in Faculty of Social Science, Department of Ancient Indian and Asian Studies, Magadh University of India in 2000, and is currently Visiting Scholar in the Department of History, Columbia University of New York.His doctorate dissertation focused on the diverse ethnic nationalities of their origin, growth and unresolved problems of Burma particularly on the role of Buddhism on social, cultural and political developments of Burma .

His present research interests at Columbia University are in areas of conflict resolutions and religious dialogues within the contest of people of Burma decent. His research on the role of Buddhism in conflict solution of contemporary Burma will critical contest to address Burma 's compelling dilemma.

He is founder Director of the Buddhist Missionary Society in New York . His published articles are: Buddhism and Human Rights, In Quest of Peace through Buddhism, The Great Lost of the World (Culture Tragedy), 911 and Beyond, The Buddhist Ethics of Human Values, Significance of Vesaka Purnima in Buddhism, Unlimited Love, Arakan: A Promised Land. The Buddhist Way of life, Buddhism and Humanism. The Buddhist Concept of Peace.

He is now currently traveling across US and lecturing on "The Triumph of Spirit: Burma's Saffron Revolution." and about "Buddhism and the role of Buddhist Monks in Buddhist Society".

He has been awarded for Asian leadership at Bergen community college of America for his tireless contributions of his speech - "The Triumph of Spirit: Burma's Saffron Revolution." in so many venues. (Nov 2007)
